Yamazaki Smoky Batch First Release 70cl

Introducing the groundbreaking Yamazaki Smoky Batch The First—a Japanese whisky that redefines flavor boundaries. Meticulously crafted by Suntory's master distillers at Japan's oldest distillery, this exceptional single malt epitomizes the finesse of Japanese whisky-making.

With its nuanced profile featuring sweet fruity undertones slowly unfolding alongside a delicate smokiness in every sip, it embodies the hallmark maturation and balance synonymous with Yamazaki whiskies. Yet, what distinguishes it from conventional Yamazaki expressions is its unique attribute—a whisky characterized by a distinct "Japanese-style gentle smokiness."

Whether savoured neat, over ice, or as the base for classic cocktails, this expression is a versatile whisky suitable for any occasion.

A limited edition Yamazaki released exclusively for Japanese travel retail.

Following on from the Yamazaki Tsukuriwake Peated Malt release in 2022, ‘Smoky Batch’ is a rare peated version of Yamazaki. Expect notes of manuka honey with baked fruits and a gentle smoke on the nose and palate.

Tasting Notes

Nose : Pineapple and honey notes with the slightly smoky aroma of glowing embers

Palate : A sweet, fruity taste with a slowly spreading, gentle smoky note

Finish : The slightly woody and peaty flavor elements that linger long after the first sip

About Yamazaki

The Yamazaki Distillery, established in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii as Japan's first malt whisky distillery, is the birthplace of Japanese whisky, a result of Torii's vision to create a unique whisky using a Japanese climate and pure water sources. After sending Masataka Taketsuru to learn from Scottish whisky masters, Yamazaki began production in 1924, laying the foundation for Suntory's now world-famous Japanese whiskies. The distillery's success was cemented by international acclaim, including Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2013 winning World Whisky of the Year, bringing global recognition to Japanese whisky.
