Macphail's 50 Year Old Gordon & Macphail Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2024) 70cl
Since 1895, Gordon & MacPhail has created single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality.
A superb 50-year-old sherry-influenced single malt, from an undisclosed distillery, and bottled independently by Gordon & MacPhail, under their MacPhail`s labelling. The nose displays a refined sweetness, with notes of cut hay, wood oil, sultanas, dried orange peels and a touch of smoke. The palate is rich, revealing more sultanas, dry spices, cigar box and a certain earthiness.
For the MacPhail’s single malt range, the distillery of origin is a closely guarded secret, giving it a certain air of intrigue. All releases in the range have been matured in casks produced to our exact specifications. Expect complex, rich and elegant whiskies with sweet Sherry influences and a subtle hint of smoke.
Arguably the most famous independent bottler of Scotch whisky there is. Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Elgin in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail. It is now owned by the Urquhart Family who have bow bottled over 350 different expressions from around 69 different distilleries. Gordon & MacPhail is the Trading name of Speymalt Whiskies while also owning the Benromach distillery, which they purchased in 1993. Some of the brands include Connoisseurs Choice, Cask Strength, Rare Old and Speymalt.
