A blended malt whisky containing both Japanese and foreign whiskies produced by one of Japan's smallest and youngest distilleries, Nagahama. Eagle-eyed customers may notice that the name of this range, Amahagan, is Nagahama backwards. This whisky is mainly aged in ex-bourbon casks before bottling at 47% ABV with no chill-filtering or colour added.
Amahagan World Malt Edition No.1 is the first release in a series of three world blended whiskies from Japan's Nagahama distillery. Aromas of milk chocolate, orange, vanilla and roast nuts fill the nose, complemented by notes of apple, honey, malt, clove-studded oranges and oaky vanilla.
Tasting Notes
Nose : First orchard fruits, then tropical fruits like mango and pineapple, a subtle lemon aroma with some toasted or charred oak.
Palate : Lemon tart with sweet pastries and tropical fruits, orange marmalade and some Christmas spices.
Finish : Lemon citrus, charred oak and spices.
About Amahagan
Amahagan is a brand of blended malt whisky produced by the small Nagahama Distillery in Japan, which was founded in 2016. The name "Amahagan" is an anagram of "Nagahama," and the brand's World Malt series blends whiskies made at the Nagahama distillery with single malts from around the world. The distillery uses small, uniquely shaped stills that have been nicknamed "aranbics" due to their resemblance to Arabic architecture.
