Ardbeg Smoketrails Cote Rotie Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (2024) 1 litre

For Ardbeg Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition, we’ve married classic Ardbeg ex-bourbon casks with Ardbeg matured in highly sought-after Côte Rôtie wine casks from the Rhône region in southern France.

In this full bodied, punchy spirit, grilled artichoke and peppers peer over the horizon while warm notes of camphor fade into cooling menthol.

Subtle smoked cranberry and tar fly high above before rich dark chocolate loops-the-loop into soft fondant.

Only available from Duty Free and the Distillery Visitor Centre, each edition in the Smoketrails series offers travellers a thrilling way to explore the influence of casks from around the world on the powerful smoky flavour of Ardbeg.

“Bottled at 46% ABV, this single malt is vibrant and peppery,” said Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg’s Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation.

“Notes of tar and peppermint soar alongside a subtle fruitiness in smoked cranberry and blackcurrant

“Dark chocolate and fondant cream emerges before departing, followed by a lingering smoky finish with crispy bacon rinds and woodsmoke.

About Ardbeg

Ardbeg distillery has been producing whisky since 1798. The distillery is owned by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy, and produces a heavily peated Islay whisky. The distillery uses malted barley sourced from the maltings in Port Ellen.

The Ardbeg distillery was officially founded in 1815 by John McDougall. But Whisky was distilled there long before that. There are no documentations, as Ardbeg was an illegal business back in 1794. The distillery is now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), which also owns Glenmorangie distillery in the Highlands of Scotland. The current capacity is just over one million litres per annum and its water source is Loch Uigeadail, after which one of its famous releases is named.
