Nose Floral, with thick dried fruit; there are raisins, dates and some candied peels.

Palate The palate is as thick as the nose suggests. The dried fruit dominates... add figs to the mix, plus there's sweet marmalade, chocolate and leather, with a good jolt of pepper.

Finish Dark, dark chocolate, 80 percent cocoa solids at least. A balanced bitterness over marmalade caramel.

Overall Thick, dark and reassuring. A whisky you have to chew.
