Single Cask bottling of a speyside distillery that is unnamed. Somewhat of a cult bottling among those further into the whisky industry.

The 47th release is a another stunning Glenmarvellous from the fantastic secret distillery in Speyside that we cannot name. It was distilled in 2011 and and bottled at 10 years old at cask strength of 57.6%. It spent the first 6 years maturing in a bourbon hogshead, and then was transferred into a fresh Port Barrique to mature for a further 4 years.

This is the first Port-matured whisky Dramfool has bottled, and it jumped the bottling queue as we thought it was so special!

Colour - Rubescent Red

Aromas - Opens beautifully with a roasted almond, toasted malt & plump red grapes leading you into the mellowness of the oak with drifts of apple & spice lingering in the background. The influence of the oak lingers throughout as does the sweet crispiness of the toasted malt. It’s interesting that with a dash of water the mellowness of oak steps up to the plate bringing structure & support to the malted barley thus not allowing the Port to dominate.

Palate - At 57.6% it requires some dilution to bring forth the oak & the fruity flavours from the wine cask which is the foundation of this great single malt and that is critical, after all, you’re enjoying a superb single malt, beautifully distilled and that is the reason you buy great spirits like this.

Finish - The Port fruitiness & viscosity works in harmony with oak tannins likewise the barley. It’s a unique dram, well distilled and most enjoyable.

Dramfool, which is located in Linlithgow, Scotland, was founded by Bruce Farquhar in 2015. His passion for whisky has taken him across the globe, from eastern and western Europe, to as far as Japan spreading the word of Dramfool. He has set high standards for Dramfool and won't offer a bottling for sale until it meets these standards. The motto that Bruce has used from day one is 'I only bottle whisky that I like'.
