Sherried Linkwood is the stuff of dreams. The higher the age, the more of a dream it is for sherry bomb fanatics. You will be hard pressed to find any bad Linkwood out there ever. 

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Fruit cake and marzipan intertwine with dark cherry. Strawberry liquorice gives way to clove spice and mixed nuts.

Palate: stewed fruit combines with autumnal spice and milk chocolate. Brown sugar and orange oil complement vanilla pod.

Finish: Full and spicy with forest fruits and toasted oak.

About Linkwood

Linkwood in the Speyside whisky region is located on the southern outskirts of the town of Elgin. The distillery dates back to 1821 when founded by Peter Brown. Fifty years later his son William knocked down the original distillery and reconstructed the buildings. After an expansion in 2013 to include two more stills the capacity is now 5.6 million litres of alcohol. Production has fluctuated between 3.6 million litres and its full capacity in the last few years.

Current owners Diageo use much of the whisky produced for blending and there is just one official core bottling the Flora & Fauna 12 year old. The new make spirit running from the six stills is crafted to be fruity, floral and grassy. Not only a hit with the blenders Linkwood is also popular with many different independent bottlers. These independent bottler releases showcase Linkwood single malt to be elegant with a great depth of character.

Arguably the most famous independent bottler of Scotch whisky there is. Gordon & MacPhail was founded in Elgin in 1895 by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail. It is now owned by the Urquhart Family who have bow bottled over 350 different expressions from around 69 different distilleries. Gordon & MacPhail is the Trading name of Speymalt Whiskies while also owning the Benromach distillery, which they purchased in 1993. Some of the brands include Connoisseurs Choice, Cask Strength, Rare Old and Speymalt.
