Tomintoul 12 Year Old (Glenlivet 90s label) Single Malt Whisky 75cl
A very unusual early 1990s 12yo from the Tomintoul distillery (still using the Glenlivet suffix at the time) with a round bottle in fluted glass and a large silver screw top rather than the traditional bottleneck.
Founded in 1964 the Tomintoul distillery sits just outside the town of Tomintoul close to the Murray Firth which is also the Whisky Speyside region. The distillery holds a Guinness world record entry in 2009 for the largest bottle of whisky in the world. A massive 105.3 litres of the Tomintoul 14 year old. The bottle that this 12 year old is holding is known as the perfume bottle due to its unique shape and cork which looks like an oversized perfume bottle, once opened the aroma is gooseberry, apple, barley, toffee and metal, and the palate is chocolate, vanilla, pepper and oak with a long finish of herbs, vanilla and oak.
