Amrut make great stuff that is punching. A highly enjoyable dram
Amrut Single Malt Whisky from India was launched officially in Glasgow in 2004. Since then its reputation has grown, with its range of innovative whiskies using Indian barley from the Punjab distilled in the tropical garden city of Bangalore at 3000ft.
Nose : fine, distinguished.Remarkably fruity (pear, plum), it is also vanilla. Gradually, the peat becomes more and more delicate. Allowed to breathe, the beautiful bitterness of the malted barley gradually takes over and creates an olfactory atmosphere full of sweetness.
Appearance : deep golden yellow.
Mouth : lively, invigorating, it initially enthusiastically displays its smoky and peppery register. In the mid-palate, salt is deposited subtly on the tongue. Then, it evolves into freshly cut grass and spices (cumin, ginger). At the end of the palate, candied citrus fruits appear (grapefruit, lemon).
Finale : long, powerful. Starting exactly where the mouth left off (smoke, grapefruit), its tenderly herbaceous character gives it the freshness necessary for it to last over time. Gradually, the smoke undoubtedly takes over. Notes of licorice, artichoke heart and earth.
