Probably the best tasting, value for money 30 Year old whisky on the whole market.
A lot of amazing things have humble beginnings. Samsung started as a grocery store and now we pay more than £1000 for their smartphones. Ben Bracken started on instruction of Lidl supermarket to a distillery in Speyside that is unspecified to produce whisky. The food they retail may not be a high price, but this whisky is produced properly, distilled, barrelled for a long time and now 30 years later from 1987, an amazing quality single malt that deserves just as much recognition as Glen Elgin, Macallan, Balvenie or any other speyside distillery. In fact it is made at one of them anyway without the label.
It has a nice malty nose, with caramel, toffee, honey and apple. The palate shows orange, pear and apple, alongside butterscotch, cinnamon and ginger. The finish has a sweet woody note with chocolate and espresso.
