Discover a blended from the Kurayoshi distillery, aged in bourbon casks and matured in Japanese red wine casks, offering notes of caramel, chocolate and fruit, for a balanced and harmonious expression. Unblended whisky aged in wine barrels is carefully finished with deep natural water from Mt. Daisen. It features a deep, rich aroma reminiscent of grapes and a fruity and mellow taste.

This blend of malt and grain is aged for over 3 years in bourbon casks. After meticulous blending, it is then finished in a Japanese red wine cask from the Tottori province for 3 over months. This red wine cask finish imparts delightful notes reminiscent of bittersweet caramel and chocolate cake, accompanied by an exceptional fruity flavor. The key factor contributing to the exceptional quality of this blend is the use of natural underground water sourced from Mount Daisen. The marriage between this pristine water and the carefully selected blend of whiskies results in a harmonious and well-balanced expression. Non chill filtered, natural colour. Every time you take a sip, you can see the scenery of Mt. Daisen from season to season.

Tasting Notes 

Floral and perfumed, with delightful aromas of oak, sweet plum, and cedar. Elegantly textured on the palate, soft and inviting, displaying honey and vanilla underpinned by a spicy bite of cinnamon. The harmonious finish leaves a lingering note of wood polish.

About Matsui 

Having been established in 1910, Matsui Shuzo has been producing Shochu for a number of years. The company has a chequered past, originally bottling what was actually imported Scotch that had been aged in Japan at the Matsui-Shuzo warehouses and using packaging suspiciously similar to Suntory products. However, since 2017 they have been distilling their own whisky at the now-extant Kurayoshi distillery.

The Daisen is a blended whisky produced by the Kuayoshi distillery, in this instance utilising wine cask maturation.
