Nikka 12 Year Old Premium Blended Whisky (2018) 70cl

Released as a premium blend featuring whiskies from Miyagikyo and Yoichi and backed beautifully by the Coffey grain, this 12 year old is perfect for sipping in a highball or even neat.

A wonderful blend of the two Nikka single malts of Yoichi and Miyagikyo plus some grain whisky but all at least 12 years old. Wow what a wonderful whisky and this gives blends a good name and blows the likes of Chivas Regal 18 or Johnnie Walker 18 out the water. Sublimely crafted Japanese blend and no wonder they are sweeping up all the awards! Best Japanese (12 years and under) at World Whiskies Awards 2018.

In addition to their Japanese operations, Nikka also owns Ben Nevis distillery, and ships malt whisky from the distillery back to Japan for use in it's Nikka Black expression.

The Nikka whisky company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, with the creation of his Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido. Arguably the “grandfather” of Japanese whisky, Taketsuru learned his trade studying Organic Chemistry at The University of Glasgow in 1918, before apprenticing at Longmorn, and laterally Hazelburn distilleries. With humble beginnings, producing apple juice and cider to keep the cash flowing whilst the whisky came of age, Nikka has grown to become one of the best known names in Japanese whisky.

About Nikka

Nikka Whisky is a Japanese company, founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru – the "Father of Japanese Whisky" – after he studied distilling in Scotland. The brand is known for its two distilleries, the maritime-style Yoichi and the more delicate Miyagikyo, which produce a wide range of single malt and blended whiskies. Nikka blends Scotch-inspired techniques with Japanese precision, creating whiskies renowned for their complexity, balance, and unique character influenced by their distinct environments.
