The first "official" use of the Old Orkney brand since the late 20th century. This is a wonderful bottling of 13 year old whisky from an undisclosed Orkney distillery, distilled in 2009.

This bottle of Old Orkney 001 2009 13 Year Old is an independent bottling which was produced in the Islands region of Scotland by Decadent Drinks.

At Decadent Drinks we have always loved, and been inspired by the original Old Orkney brand. That’s why, for this first proper Old Orkney bottling, we’ve recreated an original, and rather obscure, old advertising poster from around the 1900s as the label.

The whisky in this bottling is an Orkney single malt distilled in 2009 and matured in 1st fill bourbon barrel for 13 years. We bottled it at 50% to give a properly balanced, accessible and clear impression of this whisky’s beautiful and evocative Orcadian peaty and coastal character.

Tasting Notes

Nose : Lot's of fruit, peach, flowery, lemons, and saltiness...not a lot of peat

Palate : Really nice, sweet honey, heathery peat, creamy mouthfeel, more lemons, a little wax

Finish : More honey and a little peat. Really well done...you could drink this all day!

About Old Orkney

Old Orkney can refer to the ancient Neolithic history of the Orkney Islands, known for its well-preserved stone monuments like Skara Brae and the Heart of Neolithic Orkney sites. Alternatively, it refers to an Orkney single malt whisky brand that was revived by the independent bottler Decadent Drinks in 2023, featuring single malts from Orkney's surviving distilleries.
