The Nantou distillery is situated in Nantouhsien, Taiwan and was founded in 1978. However, the first whisky produced was in 2008. Kavalan isn't the only award winning whisky from Taiwan - Nantou has also grabbed some World Whiskies Awards.

This single malt was distilled in January 2015 and matured in a single Oloroso Sherry cask before being bottled at cask strength in September 2022.

About Omar Nantou 

Omar (Oloroso) is a brand of Taiwanese single malt whisky produced by the Nantou distillery. Founded in 1978 and producing its first whisky in 2008, this state-owned distillery uses local resources, including pure water from the surrounding mountains and a tropical climate, to create a unique whisky known for its rich flavour, often described with notes of sherry, fruit, and caramel. Omar is positioned as an alternative to Taiwan's other prominent distillery, Kavalan and offers a distinctive expression of Taiwanese terroir.
