As we continue to explore the regional effects of rye and its producers, this limited release offers something entirely new compared to the familiar profile of our signature unmalted Mallee Rye. Made with 100% malted rye sourced from the Riverina region.
A lovely, fruity rye whiskey with notes of orange marmalade, lemon curd, toasted cedar, dried figs, and sticky toffee pudding. This three-year-old Aussie whiskey is crafted from 59% Mallee rye, 35% Australian corn, and 6% Australian malted barley.
Delivering a surprisingly round and robust flavour, this whiskey opens with lively notes of sweet spice, raw pastry and liquorice allsorts. As it unfolds, the rye malt softens the typically bold rye character, creating a broader, smoother profile on the palate.
About The Gospel
Inspired by the divine music that shares its name The Gospel was founded on the belief in bringing a distinct Australian approach to a traditional American whiskey to the world. We use proven techniques of the world’s most famous distilleries, coupled with Melbourne’s dynamic climate to create rye whiskey with passion, integrity and belief. Truth and authenticity is woven into everything we say and do, and we are driven by our passion to shine a light on the unknown and uncover the true spirit of rye. Set in the backstreets of Melbourne’s eclectic inner north, Ben and Andrew designed and built a distillery big enough to match their dreams, but small enough to remain hands on where it matters. With the help of family and friends, the distillery was built over an 18-month period. It features a six-metre-high continuous column still, designed and built in-house, as well as a bespoke Copper Pot still. The Gospel wider team are an experienced group of booze industry experts, all of whom have a fierce love for deliciously unpretentious rye whiskey. The Gospel is distilled and bottled by fanatics in Melbourne, all of whom have a fierce love for deliciously unpretentious rye whiskey. Our small, dedicated team produce everything by hand under the guidance of Master Distiller, Ian Thorn. Ian is the boss of all things booze – he is the first and only distiller to hold the esteemed ‘Master Distiller’ accreditation in Australia.
