Royal Salute 25 or Chivas 25 years in ceramic bottles is the latest version just announced by Pernod Ricard. The 25-year Royal Salute version was released exclusively for the global travel retail channel (duty free channel at airports), available at airports starting in November 2019 and quickly available in Vietnam via the carry-on channel. retail.
Royal Salute was first launched by Chivas Brothers in 1953 to celebrate the coronation of Elizabeth II as Queen. The name Royal Salute is the name of the cannon team used to fire salutes in some important royal ceremonies.
Before the Royal Salute 25YO/Chivas 25 years version, Pernod Ricard also released The Malts Blend and The Lost Blend in the 21 years collection in July 2019. Chivas 25 years porcelain bottles are carefully and preciously mixed from wine barrels that have been aged for at least 25 years together, so the wine has a very balanced, smooth and deep flavour.
ROYAL SALUTE
Royal Salute is a brand of Chivas Brothers, or in other words, it is a branch of the famous Chivas Regal. That is why Vietnamese people still have the habit of calling them Chivas instead of Royal Salute.
Royal means “Royal”. Salute means “salute” or a ceremonial salute. The name comes from the first bottle of whisky named Royal Salute, a 21-year-old bottle released in 1953, to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. To be more precise, Royal Salute symbolizes the honorary gun salute to celebrate the coronation. The number 21 symbolizes 21 gun shots, and fortunately, this whisky has matured to the full 21 years.
That's why Royal Salute has long been considered a whisky for the Royal Family, and later, when it became more popular, Royal Salute was always placed in the high-end segment. Of course, this also goes hand in hand with quality.
To this day, Royal Salute has been present at many important events of the British Monarchy. This whisky can be considered the only one in the world whose youngest product is also 21 years old. This goes hand in hand with the company's statement: "We start where others finish" implying that their whisky is older than most other products on the market.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: On the nose, rich notes of sweet stewed fruit and blueberry jam are complemented by soft liquorice, a dusting of cinnamon and aromatic marzipan.
Palate: Intensely sweet with flavours of juicy prunes, treacle toffee and dark chocolate rounded off perfectly with caramelised figs.
Finish: Long, dry and slightly spicy.
