They search the world for the very best barrels to explore the limits of barrel maturation. Spread across 16 warehouses, there are more than 50,000 barrels from which Billy Walker personally selects which are bottled in the Single Cask series. With his exceptional dedication to barrel management, he oversees the development of the whisky until the perfect balance between distillery character and wood influence is achieved.
The cask with the number 1871 was a Ruby Port Pipe, which was filled on August 16, 2008 and then stored for 14 years. In April 2023, the cask was bottled without chill filtration and in natural color in 768 bottles with a strength of 53.3% ABV exclusively for the German market.
Around 50,000 different barrels are stored in the warehouses of the GlenAllachie distillery. The master of this wooden treasure is Billy Walker - co-owner of the distillery, master distiller and industry icon with around 50 years of experience. Whatever he composes or selects promises to be a real treat. This includes a new single cask - exclusively for the German market.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: subtle hints of cloves, heather honey and cinnamon rolls, with notes of dark chocolate, hazelnut and marzipan
Taste: Lots of red berries, liquorice and candied apples followed by chocolate chips, glazed cherries and sultanas
