It’s generally agreed that the cask contributes as much as 70% of the final flavour of the whisky. In recognition of this, Billy Walker, legendary icon of the whisky industry, has ensured that GlenAllachie has an annual wood budget of over £2 million, which allows his team to source the very best and most interesting casks.

GlenAllachie 21 Year Old - Batch 4 is a cask-strength very rare single malt, aged in just three PX puncheons from Jerez, Spain. This is the fourth iteration of one of GlenAllachie’s oldest and much-loved core expressions.

It has flavours of clementine zest, Medjool dates, black cherries, orchard fruits, raisins, treacle, heather honey, cocoa, fruit cake and caramelised brown sugar and comes at a high strength of 51.5% ABV.

Its intense mahogany colour is natural, and it is non-chill filtered.

Presented in a lavish pine green gift box with gold foil element, this is one of only 2000 bottles.

TASTING NOTES

• Colour: Intense Mahogany.
• Nose: Waves of clementine zest, raisins and honeycomb, with cocoa, fruit cake and caramelised brown sugar.
• Taste: Bursts of baking spices, rich chocolate and heather honey, followed by treacle, orchard fruits and black cherries, with sweetened espresso on the finish.
