The 18-year-old Glendronach Allardice bears the name of the founder of the Glendronach Distillery James Allardice. The Single Malt completes the so far relatively manageable product range with another first-class whisky aged in sherry casks. 100% matured in oloroso sherry casks.
A phenomenal award winning beast of a whisky. A true desert island whisky.
The vintage here is as stated and not something else. All 2021 and accurate.
Tasting Notes
Nose Sherry notes so thick you need a knife to cut them! There's a hint of old rum in there too, with pineapple and brown sugar in tow.
Palate Christmas cake, rum again, chocolate-coated hazelnut, runny honey and a hint of Sauternes.
Finish Fresh blackcurrant, blueberry pancakes with a generous helping of maple syrup.
