The second chapter in the Glengoyne Legacy Series has been matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon casks and refill sherry casks before being bottled in 2020. Sweet aromas of vanilla, banana, peaches, coconut, lime and mint fill the nose, complemented by notes of apple crumble, toast and honey, green grapes and sweet spices throughout the palate.
The second bottling in the Legacy Series follows on from Chapter One, when Cochrane Cartwright made innovations that define Glengoyne to this day. 134 years later the next chapter in our story unfolded when Peter Russell and his family fulfilled their dream of having their very own distillery & became custodians of Glengoyne. Peter and his family have helped ensure Glengoyne flourished, remaining the one of a kind dram cherished by whisky lovers worldwide.
It's the second chapter in Glengoyne's Legacy series! This one was dedicated to Peter Russell, chairman and founder of Ian Macleod Distillers, which bought Glengoyne in 2003. Nose Buttery pastry filled with cooked apple and a dash of baking spice with notes of tinned peaches, papaya and toffee in support. There’s a hint of white chocolate and raspberry blondies in the backdrop with earthy vanilla, autumnal leaves and candied lemon peel.
Palate Pear drops, sweet vanilla pod and a kick of cinnamon, with buttery lemon shortbread, dried herbs, red apples and a little lime marmalade in support.
Finish Exceptionally long and mellow with a pleasant prickle of spice.
Overall A pleasant dram with moments of real depth complex whisky that shows distillery character and cask in harmony. Impressive stuff.
