Karuizawa 2000 Flower and Bird Painting Series Bullfinch and Weeping Cherry' 18 Year Old Single Cask No.7377 Japanese Single Malt Whisky (2018) 70cl
One of 498 bottles produced of majestic whisky.
A lot of the Karuizawa single casks have an exceptionally high alcohol level for their ages. We have personally tried some expressions and the expectations are wholly met in what is regarded as one of the best whiskies of all time.
Karuizawa is a closed distillery in Japan albeit recently production will restart giving us some whisky in a few years to come.
It is one of the most highly regarded whiskies that was a victim of time but not place.
It is known for its unique taste and character, which is a result of the distillery's usage of high-quality ingredients and its aging process in specially selected oak casks. This particular release, the Spirit of Asama 55, is bottled at 46% alcohol by volume, making it a full-bodied and rich whisky. It is a highly sought after bottle, prized for its complex and elegant flavour profile, and is limited in availability.
At 850 metres above sea level, the distillery is the highest in Japan; low temperatures and high humidity provide an ideal micro-climate for whisky production.
