The Mars Shinshu Distillery, founded in 1985 in the Japanese Alps of Nagano, is Japan's highest whisky distillery. At an altitude of 798 meters, it benefits from the cool climate and pure spring water of Mount Komagatake - ideal conditions for whisky production. After reopening in 2011, the distillery gained international recognition and is now considered a flagship for excellent Japanese whisky.
Mars Shinshu whiskies are known for their smooth and elegant character, with notes of fruit, honey, vanilla and spice. The distillery’s attention to detail and craftsmanship are evident in every bottle, and they regularly experiment with different maturation methods and cask types to discover new flavours.
