Out of all the great Houses of Westeros it was House Baratheon from Stormlands who raised their golden sigil with black stag rampant and did what appeared to be impossible - overthrew House Targaryen to claim the most desired Iron Throne. Despite this great achievement, its line was almost totally extinct after the War of the Five Kings.In 1848 the small highland distillery Lochnagar - located close to the royal Balmoral Castle - was visited by Queen Victoria and King Albert, and became the first distillery in Scotland to be granted the royal warrant, known from then on as 'Royal' Lochnagar. Could there be better whisky to express the Baratheon's achievement?Royal Lochnagar produces a small amount of spirit bottled as single malt but can be also found in such well known blends as Johnnie Walker Black and Blue.Part of the Diageo limited-edition Game of Thrones collection, this bottling was released in cooperation with HBO to mark the final season of the groundbreaking TV series. The eight whiskies that form this set have been cunningly paired with iconic Houses of Westeros and Night’s Watch to give fans of the show a chance to taste the Seven Kingdoms unique characteristics.Official Tasting NotesLight notes of oak and sweet liquorice that develops into a rich, creamy vanilla coffee and finishes with a mild nutmeg custard note.

Tasting Notes 

Nose : The pale amber colour of this single malt is light & delicate just like the aromas of this 12 year old Royal Lochnagar which develops soft notes of oak before moving into hints of banana foster with caramelised turbinado sugar.

Palate : On the palate it's sweet on the opening with layers of liquorice and rich, creamy vanilla coffee.

Finish : The palate blends into a long finish with mild nutmeg and a creamy custard tart finish.

About Royal Lochnagar 

Royal Lochnagar is a small Highland single malt Scotch Whisky distillery located near Balmoral Castle, which received its royal warrant from Queen Victoria in 1848. Founded in 1845 by John Begg, the distillery is still in use today, known for its traditional methods like an open mash tun and crystal-clear water from the Scarnock springs. The distillery is Diageo's smallest, and its spirit is a key component in high-end blends like Johnnie Walker, although single malts, primarily a 12-year-old, are available.
