When Sabrina moved from Italy to Okinawa, she found more than just a new home—she discovered a deep connection to the island’s culture and craftsmanship. It was here that she was introduced to Awamori, and was surprised to learn about its unique benefits and how its taste has remained unchanged for centuries. Meeting Ayako, whose family has mastered distillation for five generations, sparked an idea: to combine their expertise and create something new—spirits that honor Okinawa’s past while embracing modern innovation. And so, Sakhrani was born—a distillery built on tradition but driven by a vision for what’s next. As a female-led distillery, we’re proud to challenge norms and embrace innovation while staying rooted in our craft.
Okinawa is at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re committed to giving back a percentage of our sales to Ogimi Village, supporting the elderly community that embodies Okinawa’s spirit of longevity. For us, it’s about crafting spirits that matter, rooted in respect for the land and its people.
Our logo isn’t just a design—it represents who we are. The S in our logo, shaped like a swan, symbolizes the elegance and precision that define everything we do at Sakhrani Distillery. Just as a swan moves gracefully across the water, we craft each bottle with the same attention to detail, ensuring every sip reflects our dedication to quality.
But there’s more to it. In the top right of the S, you’ll find the kanji 櫻弐 (Sakhrani). 櫻 represents renewal, a nod to our respect for tradition, while 弐 stands for two—symbolizing the partnership between Sabrina and her husband as co-founders. Together, they’re not just building a distillery—they’re creating a legacy. 櫻弐 is about honouring where we’ve come from while pushing forward with bold, new ideas.
