Wolfburn 7 Year Old Mey Games 2023 70cl
A special commemorative edition produced to celebrate the 2023 May Highland Games. It uses Wolfburn's signature soft, sweet original wine barrels and blends them with two selected quarter barrels that are more than seven years old. These quarter oak casks mature quickly, bringing rich flavor to the aged whiskey. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
WOLFBURN:
Situated on Scotland’s rugged north coast, the Wolfburn distillery was first established in 1821, rapidly becoming the largest distillery in the Caithness area. The purchase of the land was finalised in May 2012 and the first ground was broken on the new site just a few months later. The new Wolfburn distillery building is just a short walk along the burn from the old site towards the sea.
The Flow Country covers much of Caithness and has done so since the end of the last ice age. It is an ancient and almost unique environment, the largest expanse of blanket peat bog in Europe, perhaps the entire world.
Today Wolfburn’s distillers fashion their whisky the same way it was always made, by hand, using only the finest ingredients, and without haste. Distilled, matured and bottled on-site at the Distillery.
TASTING NOTES:
Nose: Crystalised fruits meet fig rolls and apricot jam. It’s beautifully sweet, with just a hint of coffee and dark chocolate.
Palate: Juicy and mouthwatering. Rich toffee and syrup flavours lead the way, with overtones of cocoa and vanilla. Fruity sweetness coats the palate, with citrus flavours and honey notes leading to a warm, soft finish.
Finish: Vanilla notes gently fade away with a lovely trace of oak smoke lingering at the end.
